This module reinforces the concepts regarding frame rate discussed in Module 1, examines the concepts of codecs and containers, and deepens understanding of the dangers proprietary players introduce to video investigation workflows. This module builds on Module 1 by introducing advanced video processes and developing skills to manage video assets and derivatives in complex cases using Axon Investigate.

  • Identify codecs, containers, and proprietary and standard formats
  • Distinguish proprietary video files from proprietary player files
  • Demonstrate an ability to organize source videos and subclips to effectively create demonstrative exhibits using the Concatenate and Canvas Editor nodes
  • Employ major case management concepts such as group organization, insertion of metadata in source video, marked images, and subclips
  • Competently apply date/time offsets to assist with tracking suspects across multiple sources of video
  • Show proficiency in applying concepts to large cases with multiple video sources and many camera views by filtering and sorting the original files and derivatives
